To sleep or not to sleep? That's the question most parents have about their newborn photography session.
We get it, and it's a great question!
The answer all depends on what you're after from your photography.
Impressions Photography Studio has welcomed thousands of Adelaide newborns and their parents and families into our Medindie studio, and we've witnessed every emotion and state a child can have ... and it's all good!
Our style is both playful and candid. For posing in some of the different types of settings on offer, it's best that babies are very relaxed or fully asleep. This is so baby looks relaxed and content, and also so that they remain safe at all times.
There are two examples of poses where babies need to be fully relaxed or asleep.
Dream catcher pose
Head in hands pose
Newborn photography is baby-led, and the age of the baby plays a big role here. The younger they are, the more likely they will let us position them on all those really whimsy poses and settings. They may not sleep through the entire session (which is totally fine), but they're more likely to rest for much of it.
At Impressions Photography Studio, we've introduced a new theme - a timeless, candid photography set. We love it and so do all of the parents that experience it.
This is because it's suitable for our tiniest clients, but also specifically designed for older, more alert newborns.
Take a look at Mr Two-Month-Old below. Gorgeous, isn't he?
Sometimes making it into the studio for your newborn photography session at the two week mark is too much to manage - we totally get it.
But you shouldn't ever feel like you've missed the boat. We'd be so pleased to adapt a session to suit your baby and family, at any age.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
