Have your cake and smash it too!
That's what we say here at Impressions Photography Studio, where our Smash & Splash sessions are the best in Adelaide.
Why? Because we have carefully selected our backdrops, props and lighting to create a setup that creates beautiful photography. We also tailor the experience to your child, with music and activities to engage them throughout the session, so that they have a smashing time.
To take all of the hard work out of your Smash & Splash session, we provide a cake at an additional charge. However, you are welcome to bring your own cake to the session.
If you choose to bring along your own cake, here are some things to keep in mind.
THe cake Should be soft
Little fingers need to not work hard to claw their way into the cake, so the softest cake is best. At Impressions Photography Studio, we use a light sponge simply iced and decorated, which is easiest for kids to smash.
The cake should be at room temperature
The colder the cake, the harder it is. And hard cakes are not a cake smash's best friend. If a cake is dense, it will hold the colder temperature for longer, so keep this in mind when buying or baking.
The cake should have at least two layers
Ideally, your cake will have three layers, but two is ok. The taller the cake, the more impressive it will look in photos. At Impressions Photography Studio, our smash cakes have three tiers.
The cake shouldn't have too much icing
We find that many kids don't really like very sweet food, or they're not used to eating it. This is why we ice our cakes as naked cakes, with a thin layer of icing they usually don't mind eating.
The cake should be simply decorated
A simple decoration is attractive, like a number or word plaque, but too much may distract them from the job at hand. Simple is often best.
At Impressions Photography Studio, we love a cake smash session! And you'll love all the joy of your beautiful photography and none of the clean up!
