Having a newborn means remembering to bring so much everywhere you go.


But when it comes to getting the best out of your newborn photography session, a little planning goes a long way.


Here’s a check list of things to remember to bring to your Impressions Photography Studio session;


Snacks

Pack some snacks and refreshments for yourself and family to keep everyone happy and relaxed for the photo shoot.


Moisturiser

Moisturising baby will help to smooth out any dry skin and baby will glow even more in photos, too.


Dummy

Dummies can help to calm and sooth baby during the photo shoot, keeping them calm and happy while we capture those precious moments. Even if baby doesn’t normally take a dummy, it’s still recommended to bring one to the session – a moment of contentment is all we need to capture those special photo moments. We have dummies available for purchase, but we recommend bringing your own as you will know what shape of dummy baby likes. 


Entertainment for siblings

Bring along any activities that will keep siblings engaged while newborn photography takes place. We have a lounge retreat available for use, with streaming services available to keep your kids entertained. Incentivising siblings with small bribes might also work to keep them engaged! (But don’t tell anyone we told you so!)


Extra clothing for newborns

Newborns will ALWAYS have an accident when you least want it, so bring lots of extra changes of clothes for the car ride home. We have all the wraps and props they need, but sometimes they have big accidents on the car ride to the studio. Always best to be prepared with more clothing!


Nappies and wipes

You learn quickly that you really can’t leave the house without a steady supply of these. Don’t worry if you forget – we have backups on hand. 


Grooming and makeup kit

For touching up makeup and hair before your photos. We have hairspray on hand, if needed during the session.


Bottles and warming devices

Being prepared to keep baby nourished at all times is essential, so bring along everything you need. We have kettle and microwave facilities too, if you need.


Special and sentimental items

Meaningful and special keepsake items create memorable photographic moments, so please bring them along – we’re always keen to be creative with people’s special items. 


An open mind

Newborns can be calm one moment and very unsettled the next, so it’s important to be patient and understanding when they have reached their limits. We have lots of tricks up our sleeve to help keep babies calm, but ultimately, newborn photography is baby led. We want to create beautiful photography that you will always cherish, safely and with baby calm and content. 


Your good times

Your joy and love for your family will show on camera, so bring it along for a session you’ll always remember. 


We also have lots of essential baby items in the studio to use for your session, and make your time with us as comfortable as possible, including:


  • Change table
  • Disposable nappy change mats
  • Swaddles, wraps and blankets
  • Newborn accessories including clothing, hats and headbands
  • A wide selection of props
  • Playlists to sooth baby or white noise
  • Baby wipes, sanitiser and tissues
  • Moisturiser for dry, sensitive skin
  • Dummies available for purchase
  • Nappy bags and bin
  • Kettle and microwave to warm baby bottles
  • Bathroom and change area to prepare for your session
